“An Open Letter to Sami Yusuf”
It’s your voice filling my room and ears nowadays. Always the same question that you’re directing to us “Who is the loved one?” If I knew the answer with certainty, I’d tell you right now but the answer is not easy and most importantly the ears are shut.
I’ve seen you on Roj TV, pro-Kurdish TV, which indicates that you’re personally not like most of your ancestors (knowing that you have a Turkish or more correctly an Azeri background).
On the other hand, an appearance on Kurdish TV, does not invalidate the following questions?
I do believe that each life comes with a certain mission, it’s called “fate” as you know better than me, however, it’s us who write this fate by freely choosing what to do or not. If it’s so that very thing is done by a free mind then who is preventing you, the greatest international singer in the Islamic world, from at least implying the struggle of innocent Kurds in your concerts, like you do for the people of Darfur? Why not dear Sami? Why not now, because you don’t know if you are going to live until tomorrow? Why not telling their stories to every Muslim on earth? Telling the story of Kurds, who served Islam at very fragile and difficult times (do you remember Sultan Saladin?). Why not awakening every Muslim on earth that the descendents of Saladin have been under assimilation for God knows how many decades/centuries by other Muslims (Turks, Persians, Arabs you name it)? Let’s remind every Muslim that Kurdish language was banned by Turkish State for many decades? Let’s remember that they’ve been killed by their so-called Muslim brothers due to a demand of practising their culture, improving their identity and becoming a happier nation?
Do you sleep well when you lie down yourself while a Muslim with deadly power kills another Muslim, who is powerless, countryless and hopeless? What do you see when you shut your eyes? Don’t you see the Muslims (Turk, Persian, Arab) with deadly weapons kill other innocent and oppressed Muslims together. What a dirty pact of Muslims? Shame on all Muslims, who see this and accept without questioning!
Dear Sami, we’ll all die one day as promised by Him (cc)*. When returned to Him, we should have our answers ready to above questions. If this is the case, let’s bring the question up again;
“Who is the loved one and what will be your answer?”
*(Every soul must taste of death, and We try you with evil and with good, for ordeal. And unto Us ye will be returned. Al-Anbiya, 35)
With my best regards.
